Registered files. Records of the Civil Defence Section of the Town Clerk’s Department, arranged in alphabetical order, established in 1964 with the appointment of Mr. K A North, the Council’s first (part time) Civil Defence Officer. Most of the records were created after 1974 when the Council’s first fulltime Civil Defence Officer (Mr R J Shepherd) was appointed. The sector and warden post files relate to buildings and personnel. Some of the reports and correspondence in this series can also be found on the Civil Defence files kept by the Records Office of the Town Clerk’s Dept. (see series 1/5/5, files 49/4-49/4/26)
