Descriptive Note

Inwards and outwards correspondence pertaining to the Job Creation Section created in 1984, to increase Council’s involvement with the Government subsidised employment schemes. Specific folders deal with correspondence with the Personnel Officer, the Town Clerk and the Department of Labour. This section was controlled by the Personnel Office of the Town Clerk’s Department, but most of the records were created by the Projects Coordinator (Maxine Goldsack) and the Training Officer (Steward Couchman) Some of the reports and correspondence in this series can also be found on the job creation files maintained by the Records Office of the Town Clerk’s Department (see series 1/5/5, file 91/1-91/7). Other records relating to Government subsidized employment schemes prior to 1984 can be found in series 1/5/5, file 41/4/3.
