Data maps and zoning maps prepared under the supervision of K Nairn (Town Planner 1953-1973), P W T Bagnall (City Planner, 1973 -1976) and K J Tremaine (City Planner, 1976-1989) for the District Scheme which became operative on 4 October 1968 and remained in force until September 1981. Published and unpublished records of the Provisional Town Planning Scheme, (prepared under the Town Planning Act, 1926) and the District Schemes, (prepared under the Town and Country Act 1953). NOTE: The majority of these maps are drawn on base maps of either 5 chains to 1 inch, (prepared about 1946), or 10 chains to 1 inch, (prepared about 1951). NOTE: This subseries is incomplete. Other maps from the period, 1946-1953, are known to have been destroyed during the 1960s.
