Descriptive Note

Bound copies. Printed copies of the audited statement of accounts and balance sheet for each financial year (1 April – 31 March) covering the activities for all departments. Accounts are missing for the years 1878-82, 1885-88, 1890, 1893, 1896, 1900 and 1904. From 1903 – 1918 the accounts included an annual report by the Town Clerk, which summarised the major works undertaken during the year. After 1974, the accounts do not contain detailed information of financial activities and users seeking such information should consult the annual estimates (Series 2/2/2), which show the actual income and expenditure for each activity for the previous financial year.

NOTE: Unclear what these files are. No record of them in hard copy inventory and not on shelf. Unclear where the metadata for this 'series' came from. Only record of 2/1/1 files (LAC 2024)
