NOW HELD BY HORIZONS REGIONAL COUNCIL. TRANSFERRED 1990.

Records of a board which controlled flooding and erosion in the Manawatu River adjacent to Palmerston North. the Board consisted of representatives of the Palmerston north borough Council and the Kairanga County Council.

Were held by Palmerston North City Council because the Chairman of the Board was the Mayor of Palmerston North and the Secretary was the Town Clerk. Other records were transferred to the Manawatu Catchment Board which took over the functions of the River Board about 1946. The remaining items (Statements of Accounts, Cash Books and Bank Books) were transferred to the newly created Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Council (now Horizons) in 1990.
