Multiple number system. The files cover a wide range of subjects and relate to all departments of the Council. This system was created in 1957 (to replace series 1/5/3) and continued in operation until 1994, when it was replaced by the corporate-wide block-numeric classification system created by the Records Office of City Enterprises Unit. Held together by a metal pin in the top left hand corner of the file. Some papers from an earlier filing systems (series 1/5/2 and 1/5/3) were placed on these files.
