Two purple velvet pillows, one large, one small, used to hold books as display items for Library circa 1996.
Large pillow has gold trim and purple tassels. Measurements: 450mm (w) x 450mm (h) x 80mm (d).
Small pillow is two tiered and includes black and gold trim with black and gold strap. Measurements: 230mm (w) x 230mm (h) x 50mm (d).
Crafted by Tessa Burt (library staff member) for use during the opening of the new library. Books were passed in a chain across The Square from the old library to the new library. A book on the purple cushion preceded a string of books that followed.
Box also contains a copy of the book that was carried on the purple cushion across The Square; 'Everybody's Somebody", photographs by David Lupton. 1995.
