Roll of ratepayers and their properties’ values, prepared in 1897 by Mr. G. M Snelson, (under contract to the Borough Council) for use by the Council in introducing rating on unimproved value.
This was the only roll prepared by the Council for rating on unimproved value. From 1898 onwards the Council used the rolls prepared by the Government’s Valuation Department.
Contains gross value (capital value), unimproved value and value of improvements for each parcel of land in the Borough. Also shows names of owners and occupiers. Entries in this roll are arranged in numerical order according to legal description of land (Section 1, Section 2 etc).
