This bridge was situated at Ashhurst and was built in 1909, to replace a bridge which had been destroyed by a flood in 1895. The N.Z Gazette of 1 November 1900, No 92 page 1986 vested control of this bridge inj the Manchester Road Board, but required the Palmerston North Borough Council to contribute to the cost of maintaing the structure. These plans were probably received by the Council about 1909.
